Dallas Morning News names digital chief

The Dallas Morning News said Friday that it has created a new management position to oversee the newspaper's Web operations as it looks to bolster its online presence.

The newspaper said Grant Moise, who heads a quick-read edition of the Morning News called Briefing, will become general manager, digital.

"Grant is a proven leader who has demonstrated the kind of strategic capabilities this new role requires," Morning News publisher Jim Moroney said in a statement.

The newspaper is owned by A.H. Belo Corp., which publishes several other dailies.

Newspapers have been struggling to get more money from their websites as circulation and ad sales on the print side decline. In its most recent quarterly earnings, Belo said overall advertising revenue fell 11.2 percent.
