Will Apple soon start sharing its cash pile with shareholders? Chatter on the Street has been growing over the past several weeks that it will.
Fast trader Karen Finerman was among the first to make the call.
On October 20th a fired up Finerman said, “I think Apple has done a horrific job as allocators of capital. Their cash hoard - it’s a crescendo of ridiculousness at $81 billion dollars. That is just an absurd amount of money, it belongs to the shareholders. This isn’t a wild leap!”
Since that time a growing chorus on the Street have echoed Finerman's sentiments.
And now the Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is listening – they say a dividend or buyback is on the horizon. And so does top Jefferies analyst Peter Misek.
”We expect Apple to issue dividend and or buyback by the middle of next year,” he says on Fast Money. “We put the odds at 90% that by the middle of next year, they return cash.”
