Gregory J. Fleming is president of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and Morgan Stanley Investment Management. He has worked for the firm since February 2010 and serves on its operating committee.

Previously, Fleming was president and chief operating officer of Merrill Lynch. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and co-president of Merrill's global markets and investment banking group, where he advised leading global corporations, financial institutions, asset management firms, financial sponsors and hedge funds. He started in investment banking in 1992.

He also has been a principal at Booz Allen Hamilton.

Fleming was a senior research scholar and distinguished visiting fellow at the Center for the Study of Corporate Law at Yale Law School.

He is a governor of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority; a member of the Council on Foreign Relations; a director of Colgate University; a member of the board of advisers for the Yale Law School Center for the Study of Corporate Law; and a trustee for the Rippowam-Cisqua School of Bedford, N.Y. He is also a former board member of BlackRock.

Fleming graduated with a degree in economics from Colgate University (Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude) and has a J.D. from Yale Law School.
