One of Capital One's most rewarding cash-back credit cards has a new name and look. As of October 22, the no-annual-fee Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card has been rebranded as the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card.
Credit card refreshes are often accompanied by benefit or annual fee changes, but in this case, the only notable difference is a new name and card design. However, one new perk to be excited about is an increased welcome bonus for new cardholders.
New Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card
The new Capital One Savor card has no annual fee and is open to applicants with good to excellent credit scores (670+). New cardholders can earn a $200 cash bonus once you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening.
The cash-back rewards don't stop with the welcome bonus, you'll also earn 8% cash back on Capital One Entertainment purchases, 5% cash back on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars you book through Capital One Travel, 3% cash back on dining, popular streaming services, entertainment and at grocery stores (excluding superstores like Walmart and Target) and 1% cash back on all other purchases.
On top of the rewards, you can take advantage of an intro 0% APR for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers. Once the intro APR expires, a variable APR of 18.74% - 28.74% applies. There is a balance transfer fee of 3% for the first 12 months (after that, the fee is 4% at the promotional APR that Capital One may offer you at any other time).
Alternatives to the Capital One Savor
If you want to take advantage of a balance transfer offer, the Citi Double Cash® Card is a good alternative. New cardholders receive an intro 0% APR for 18 months on balance transfers completed within four months from account opening (after that a variable 18.49% - 28.74% APR applies). There is an intro balance transfer fee of 3% of the amount of each transfer ($5 minimum) you make in the first four months of account opening (after that, the fee increases to 5% of the amount of the transfer with a $5 minimum). The Double Cash also earns at least 2% cash back on all purchases (1% when you buy and 1% when you pay).
What makes the Citi Double Cash® Card special is that it sits near the top of its class in several categories. It is an excellent option if you want flat-rate rewards, a balance transfer intro-APR or no annual fee.
- Balance transfers get a long intro APR
- Generous flat-rate cash-back rewards structure
- Earns transferable rewards
- No annual fee
- It has a foreign transaction fee
- Intro APR only applies to balance transfer
- Points transfer ratios are reduced compared to premium cards
