Low oil prices are not all good news. It means companies that recycle make less money because the market for recyclables has tanked, and it’s cheaper to use virgin materials that are petroleum based. That has a widespread impact on companies like Waste Management, municipalities that depend on income from recycling and it’s unclear what it will mean for the environment.
