Britney Spears conservatorship case prompts bill in Congress

The #FreeBritney bill, introduced by Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Florida., and Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., aims to protect individuals under conservatorships. It would give people the right to ask for their court-appointed private guardian to be replaced with a public guardian who is "free from financial conflicts of interest." Representatives introduced the legislation just one week after a judge granted Spears permission to hire her own attorney to challenge the conservatorship.
