House Speaker Nancy Pelosi scoffed at the idea of banning Congressional lawmakers and their spouses from owning individual stocks at a press conference. But she cautioned that lawmakers have a responsibility to report it whenever they purchase stocks. The questions arose after a Business Insider report revealed that 49 members of Congress and 182 senior-level congressional staffers had violated the STOCK Act.
