Grocery chain Albertsons to start using self-checkout carts

Grocery chain Albertsons will start using self-checkout carts in an effort to make in-person shopping easier. The carts are made by Veeve, a Seattle-based start-up founded by two former Amazon employees in 2018. Veeve is one of several companies developing smart grocery carts. The carts have cameras and sensors to tally items and allow shoppers to skip the checkout line.
