U.S. pushes back against Putin annexation claim

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of four Ukrainian regions, while threatening to defend Russian sovereignty by force if necessary. The U.S. responded with a flurry of sanctions against Russian citizens and organizations. And President Zelenskyy of Ukraine signed papers to accelerate the country's application for NATO membership.
