Stanislav Shpigelman, a Merrill Lynch investment banker, supplied Plotkin and Pajcin with confidential information that netted the twosome nearly $7 million.

Plotkin and Pajcin recruited Pajcin's girlfriend Monika Vujovic, a stripper in New York City, to solicit sensitive financial information from Wall Street bankers at the gentleman's club where she worked. But, the dirty dancing didn’t strip secrets from the clubs clientele.

The Investigation

David Markowitz, assistant regional director of the SEC'S New York office, began investigating Plotkin and Pajcin after the SEC's Market Surveillance Unit caught some highly unusual trading activity.

Pajcin’s Last Deal

With the SEC hot of the case, David Pajcin had one last deal to make. He cut a deal with prosecutors and ratted on Plotkin and Shpigelman.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ben Lawsky offered Pajcin a proposition: become a government cooperator in exchange for the chance of a lesser sentence. Pajcin accepted.
