You Can Now Order a Chopper to the Hamptons with Uber App

A limousine driver supplements his own fares with those he contracts out from Uber.

Good news for rich folks, Uber—the private driver app service— is expanding its business to the Hamptons for the Fourth of July weekend. And to promote its Hamptons debut, Uber is going a bit further and offering a limited-time chopper service to and from the Hamptons that will only set you back a measly $3,000.

Starting Wednesday, Uber users can use their app to hail a black car from anywhere in New York City to be taken to the nearest heliport and flown to the East Hampton airport. The service provides transportation to and from the chopper, and the $3,000 price tag includes up to five people.

If three grand is a little out of your budget or you're just afraid of heights, Hamptons-goers can use Uber's SUV service to get out of Manhattan for about $500. The e-hail taxi service will also be available out in the Hamptons from Wednesday through the Summer, so Uber users can book transportation with their smartphone.

Rates vary depending on where exactly a user wants to go, but the company gives some sample fares on its website. For example, to get from Bridgehampton to East Hampton (about a seven mile ride), you can expect to be paying about $75. From Southampton to Montauk (about 27 miles), it's going to cost about $235.
