LG G Flex 2 and Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3: Unboxed

Two innovative companies, LG and Alcatel, have new gadgets, the LG G Flex 2 and Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3.

The LG G Flex 2 was released last month via Sprint, priced at $199 with a two-year agreement. The device's 5.5 inch curved HD display and rear-facing power button caters to the comfort of its users.

LG made a lot of improvements since the release of its previous model, the LG G Flex. The resolution is now 1080×1920 pixels and it is equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery.

Alcatel's OneTouch Idol 3, to be released May 21, will retail at $249 without a contract. Unlike most devices, it will be sold unlocked with the capability of connection via carriers including T-Mobile or AT&T.

"Budget phones usually look bold or sassy or blocky, or all of the above. The Idol 3 here has an air of elegance, with rounded corners framing a slim plastic body, a dark grey brushed finish, and silvery accents throughout," said CNET Senior Editor Jessica Dolcourt.

The device has 16 GB of internal memory, an impressive 8 MP front-facing camera and dual front-facing JBL speakers.

Both devices have a 13 megapixel rear camera and operate with the Android 5.0 Lollipop platform.

CLARIFICATION: Alcatel's OneTouch Idol 3 costs $249 without a contact. A previous version of this story did not clarify that.
