Stone's film, which is based on two books about Snowden, hopes to delve into the personal story of the polarizing figure, who sparked a national and international debate over government surveillance.

Nicolas Cage, Rhys Ifans, Tom Wilkinson, Zachary Quinto, Scott Eastwood, Shailene Woodley and Timothy Olyphant also star in "Snowden," which is slated to arrive in theaters on September 16.
