'Snowden' official trailer hits the internet

The official trailer for Oliver Stone's Edward Snowden biopic "Snowden" arrived online on Wednesday.

A teaser trailer for the film debuted last year and again in February when Open Road revealed that the film's release date had been moved, but did not include any clips from the film.

This is the first official look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the infamous former CIA employee.

Stone's film, which is based on two books about Snowden, hopes to delve into the personal story of the polarizing figure, who sparked a national and international debate over government surveillance.

Nicolas Cage, Rhys Ifans, Tom Wilkinson, Zachary Quinto, Scott Eastwood, Shailene Woodley and Timothy Olyphant also star in "Snowden," which is slated to arrive in theaters on September 16.
