The Scarlet Knights at Rutgers aren't the only ones mourning their loss monumental against Michigan on Saturday.

A Ruth's Chris Steakhouse location in Ann Arbor is now on the hook to give a sizable discount to its diners following the team's loss.

The chain posted a promotion on Facebook Friday, which offered customers a discount at the steakhouse equal to the margin by which the Michigan football team won its game.

But there was only one problem: Michigan absolutely demolished Rutgers—by a whopping margin of 78 points.

"This amazing promotion was launched with a cap of 'up to 50 percent off' the food portion of the bill and we've updated this post to reflect that," the Ann Arbor location wrote on Facebook.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Ann Arbor and its parent company, Ruth's Hospitality, did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment.

Needless to say, social media users were quite excited about the prospect of a 78 percent discount.
