Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell was scheduled to appear in a question-and-answer session Friday afternoon Eastern time from Zurich, Switzerland.

The discussion is with Thomas J. Jordan, chairman of the Swiss National Bank, and is being hosted by the Swiss Institute of International Studies.

This will likely be the last time markets hear from Powell before the central bank's policymaking Federal Open Market Committee meets Sept. 17-18. Investors largely expect the committee to approve another quarter-point interest rate cut following the reduction in July.
