A number of stocks stood out as winners even after the Covid-19 pandemic uprooted everyday life and roiled financial markets. Looking ahead, CNBC Pro broke down which names Wall Street expects will lead the next leg higher. Names like Tesla , Etsy , PayPal and FedEx led the S & P 500 higher over the course of the coronavirus crisis. Technology-focused names that benefitted from the lockdowns and adapted to the new normal from the virus have seen their stocks double and triple. CNBC Pro screened for the stocks in the S & P 500 with the highest price change in the past 12 months. The average upside to their price targets and their percentage of buy ratings are also included. Here are the top 25 performers in the S & P 500 over the last 12 months. Although a late addition to the S & P 500, Tesla is the top performer in the past year. The electric carmaker has soared more than 400% since last March when the pandemic started. Other names like e-commerce company Etsy — which helped small businesses develop an online presence during the lockdown — have rallied more than 250%. United Rentals , Marathon Oil , Diamondback Energy and L Brands are also on the top performers list. While these companies could continue to rally, CNBC Pro wanted to find the stocks that Wall Street expects will gain the most over the next year. CNBC Pro screened for stocks with the largest upside to their 12-month average price target from analysts. Here are the forecasted best 25 performers in the S & P 500 for the next 12 months. Enphase Energy and Catalent are the only stock on both lists. Enphase Energy's stock soared 570% in 2020, making it an outperformer even within the record-setting year for the clean energy sector more broadly. Then in January the company, which makes microinverters for solar systems, became the first pure-play solar company to be added to the S & P 500 index. The stock rose to a record high on Feb. 10, but has since tumbled more than 30% as investors rotated out of growth names in favor of value plays. But analysts say the stock continues to look attractive. Piper Sandler named the stock its top solar idea for 2021, saying the company should benefit from robust residential solar demand, as well as the burgeoning energy storage sector. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals , Qualcomm , Take-Two Interactive , American Tower and Advanced Micro Devices are all expected to rally in the next year. E-commerce giant Amazon is up more than 60% in the past year as a major beneficiary of the pandemic, yet Wall Street still see the stock adding another 30% in the next 12 months.
