Dennis O'Brien is the Executive Producer of CNBC Events, based at CNBC Global headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. O'Brien oversees all editorial and related multi-platform content for the network's fast-growing live journalism business. Since joining the network in 2015, O'Brien has spearheaded the creation and execution of numerous editorial franchises, including Healthy Returns, @Work and CNBC Evolve.
 
Previously, O'Brien was Executive Producer at Bloomberg Media Group, where he launched Bloomberg's flagship event The Year Ahead, as well as several editorial franchises on subjects including technology, politics, finance, and corporate responsibility. While at Bloomberg, O'Brien also managed live events at the Republican and Democratic National Conventions in 2012, and was a consultant at Bloomberg Television.
 
Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2012, O'Brien led HDNet's News and Documentary department, where he won the network's first and only Emmy Awards. He and his team were also awarded a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for their reporting on child soldiers in Uganda. 
 
O'Brien spent 13 years at ABC News, where he produced for Good Morning America, PrimeTime Live, 20/20, This Week and reported on politics in two election cycles. Among his credits were several groundbreaking broadcasts for Good Morning America – including the first-ever broadcasts from inside Vatican City and CIA Headquarters. He also produced three presidential interviews with anchors Diane Sawyer and Charles Gibson, and covered breaking news events from around the world, including the 9/11 attacks from lower Manhattan. O'Brien was a senior member of teams honored with 2 Emmy Awards and a Columbia duPont Award during his time at ABC.
 
O'Brien holds a bachelor's degree from Vassar College and lives in Pleasantville, New York with his wife, a social worker, and two children.
