Second-Half Stock Surge or Swoon?

It's unlikely the Federal Reserve will mess with quantitative easing in 2013, OptionMonster's Jon Najarian said Monday.

"I've said all along, I don't think they can possibly move on quantitative easing this year," he said. "Now everybody focused last week on whether or not September would be a kick-off for some sort of indication of pulling back from the stimulus."

On CNBC's "Fast Money," Najarian said that there was little reason to fear the Fed backstopping the market.

"I don't think they can do that until early next year at the earliest," he added.

TheStreet CIO Stephanie Link also said that stocks were headed higher in the second half of the year.

"I'm thinking surge," she said, noting that recent economic data had been positive.

"Last week we had consumer confidence, we had durable goods, we had home sales," she said, also noting sales of HVAC units for new homes and indicators of strong auto sales.

"I'm not saying we're healed," Link added, also noting that sequestration was providing a drag on the economy.

"If you can get this data to be this good now, just imagine in the second half of the year it gets a little bit better," she said. "And then if they do taper, we have more confidence that we can handle it better."
