TVN Group and CNBC Announce New Business Channel in Poland

TVN Group – the leading media group in Poland – and CNBC – the leading financial and business news network – today announced the formation of a new co-produced business news channel called TVN CNBC Biznes which will operate in close cooperation and exclusively with CNBC. The contract between the TVN Group and CNBC is unprecedented in the Polish market. This is also the first initiative which establishes in Central Europe, a channel with global coverage.

The contract allows for daily editorial and technological teaming between CNBC and TVN CNBC Biznes in Poland, but also for TVN CNBC Biznes to provide reports and analysis on economic developments in Poland to CNBC Europe.

The global reach of TVN CNBC Biznesnews will be possible thanks to CNBC Europe who will share its technical resources and expertise in providing news, interviews and analysis on business and financial markets.


TVN CNBC Biznes will have access to CNBC’s infrastructure all around the world (including news bureaus in London, Frankfurt, Milan, Brussels, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Dubai, Singapore, South Korea, South Africa), and at CNBC’s broadcast centres at major international stock exchanges. The Polish business channel will have permanent correspondents in London and Frankfurt, where they will have access to the resources of CNBC’s local newsrooms in order to provide TVN CNBC Biznes live broadcasts to Wiertnicza Street in Warsaw.

CNBC Europe infrastructure will also allow TVN CNBC Biznes to broadcast live comments on the Polish economy from analysts in banks and financial institutions based in London, an important analytical centre not only for the global markets, but also for the business, economic and political developments in Central Europe.

TVN CNBC Biznes will use a state of the art newsroom with the latest technologies to give it a competitive advantage today. A fixed link will be set up between London and Warsaw for routine exchange of footage and programme excerpts between CNBC Europe and TVN CNBC Biznes. The contract also enables the sharing of the two organisation’s satellite trucks.

TVN CNBC Biznes journalists will provide CNBC Europe with reports from the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Thus, the Polish stock exchange will join an elite group of the capital markets featured by this globally recognised TV network. Partners of the Polish business channel believe that this will strengthen the position of Warsaw as a regional financial hub for Central Europe. TVN CNBC Bizneswill also be able to provide reports on economic developments in Poland.

The agreement with CNBC also provides TVN CNBC Biznes with substantial knowledge and expertise in the production of a daily live business channel. Currently the team consists of 50 people. Roman Mlodkowski, TVN Business News Services Director, is appointed as the first TVN CNBC Biznes Programming Director. Pursuant to the contract, the TVN Group has the exclusive licence to operate the TVN CNBC Biznes channel in Poland and as such, TVN Group is responsible for operational management of the channel.
