Don’t Give Up —LIVEstrong

Doug Ullman, a three time cancer survivor is the President & CEO LIVEstrong, the foundation Lance Armstrong created. Ullman sat down with Maria Bartiromoto give his take on the health act.

STRONGER THAN EVER

The philanthropic sector began in 2008 and has struggled. Now, in 2010, it is being dealt with the stiffest headwinds ever. Despite all of this, LIVEstrong has been blessed with a lot of support in this struggling environment. In 2009, it raised about $50 million, which is the most it has ever raised, thanks to all the people who wish to invest in the cause.

Health Care

There are three very key things in the health act that impact cancer survivors directly.

1. Elimination of discrimination based on pre-existing conditions
2. Having children covered.
3. Coverage for quality cancer care

Ullman said that “every single American should have the access to best opportunity to survive their disease” and this health act can help.

Where Are We on Fight?

“LIVEstrong is very aggressive want to make sure people don’t suffer and die. We are on cusp of some break-throughs, but we’re not there yet,” said Ullman.
