CNBC To Air Top International Opera And Ballet

CNBC is launching a brand new weekly arts programme for its autumn schedule. CNBC Performance will showcase full-length performances of renowned opera and ballet by some of the world’s most prestigious companies.

CNBC Performance will launch on Sunday, 19th September at 4pm with La Boheme, Giacomo Puccini’s famous four-act opera, performed by the Teatro Real, Madrid.

It is the first of twenty programmes that CNBC has acquired from Opus Arte UK Ltd, home to the world’s finest opera, ballet, music and theatre programming. Other performances to air include The Marriage of Figaro, Roméo et Juliette and Otello (starring Plácido Domingo and Kiri Te Kanawa) by The Royal Opera, London; Tosca and Don Giovanni by Teatro Real, Madrid and The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty and Sylvia (starring Darcey Bussell) by The Royal Ballet.

The first season of CNBC Performance will air on Sunday evenings until the end of January 2011. The show will form part of the channel’s CNBC Life programming block, bringing a new strand of the finest in arts and culture programming to CNBC’s elite audience.
