Does the U.S. have enough hospital beds?

As the number of coronavirus patients continues to surge, the U.S. healthcare system is being pushed to the brink. Hospitals in the U.S. normally operate at near or full capacity to maximize profit. But with COVID-19 wreaking havoc, hospitals are now scrambling to cover shortages in health-care workers, ventilators, and hospital beds.
