Typical welcome bonus: Earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening.
CNBC Select's take: The Capital One Venture is a no-nonsense travel card that offers loads of versatility and value. You can transfer Capital One Miles to over 20 airline and hotel programs and you earn at least 2X miles on every purchase. This is one of the most valuable offers we've seen for this card. However, you'll only get the extra value if you're certain you'll use the additional $300 stays credit within a year from getting approved for the card.
The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card has a reasonable annual fee and earns flexible travel rewards, which makes it a great travel card for both beginners and frequent travelers.

Airline card welcome bonuses ending soon
New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn 125,000 miles after spending $15,000 on purchases in the first five months of account opening.
Typical welcome bonus: Earn 70,000 miles after spending $7,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening.
CNBC Select's take: This is the biggest bonus we've ever seen for this card. AAdvantage miles can be extremely valuable because of great deals on partner awards, like 57,500 miles each way to Europe in business class or 40,000 miles each way to the South Pacific in economy.
But there are two big hurdles to clear for this offer to make sense for you. The first is the large spending requirement of $15,000. You have an extended five months to earn the bonus, but it's still a commitment. The card also has a $695 annual fee. If you want Admirals Club® membership, getting this card is cheaper than paying out of pocket for a membership. But outside of that, many of the other benefits are niche, such as credits for American Airlines Vacations packages, Lyft credits (that require three rides in a month to unlock) and rental car credits (that require prepaid rentals booked directly with Avis or Budget).
The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Legend Mastercard® is one of the best ways to get access to American Airlines' network of Admirals Club® airport lounges.
- Access to nearly 100 Admirals Club® and partner airport lounges
- Global Entry or TSA PreCheck® application fee credit
- High annual fee
- Additional fee for authorized users
- No bonus rewards outside of American Airlines purchases
Highlights
Highlights shown here are provided by the issuer and have not been reviewed by CNBC Select's editorial staff.
- For a limited time, earn 125,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after $15,000 in purchases in the first 5 months of account opening.

- Global Entry® or TSA PreCheck® application fee credit of up to $120 every 4 years.

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 50,000 bonus miles after making $2,000 in purchases on your new card in the allotted time.
CNBC Select's take: Previously, we've seen offers for as many as 90,000 bonus miles for this card. With the added $250 statement credit, this offer is more valuable if you qualify for the maximum welcome bonus. Plus, the Amex Delta Gold card has a $0 intro annual fee for the first year (then $150; see rates and fees). It also includes free checked bags, 15% off Delta award flights and ongoing statement credits for various purchases.

Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card
New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn two domestic round-trip Delta Comfort Flight Certificates* and 50,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 in purchases in the first six months of card membership. Offer ends Nov. 4, 2026.
Typical welcome bonus: Earn 70,000 bonus miles after making $5,000 in purchases on your new card in the allotted time.
CNBC Select's take: This is the most interesting Delta card offer, but it's also the hardest to evaluate. We've seen welcome offers for 125,000 miles with this card. In the right situation, two flight certificates could be worth more than the extra miles. But the certificates require travel to be completed by Jan. 15, 2028, only apply to Delta Comfort and Delta Main domestic flights and other restrictions apply. So this Amex Delta Reserve card bonus isn't as flexible as an all-points offer.
*A 21+ day advance purchase required
The Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card's array of premium benefits make it a perfect fit for the most loyal Delta flyers, including elite status boosts, rideshare credits (enrollment required) and airport lounge access.

- 15% discount for eligible Delta award flights (Not applicable to partner-operated flights or to taxes and fees.)

Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card
New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn 200,000 bonus miles after spending $20,000 in purchases in the first six months of card membership. Offer ends Nov. 4, 2026.
Typical welcome bonus: Earn 80,000 bonus miles after spending $12,000 in purchases on your new card in your first six months of card membership.
CNBC Select's take: If there has ever been a bigger miles bonus available with the Delta Reserve Business card or any other Delta card, I'm not aware of it. This is a business card, so you'll need an eligible side hustle, freelance gig or business to qualify. The card has a sizable annual fee (see rates and fees), but if the benefits are worth it for you, this is the best way to quickly accumulate Delta miles.

- Up to $610 in yearly statement credits

CNBC Select's take: The no-annual-fee Hilton Honors card (see rates and fees) is a great option if you don't want a high upfront cost. Previously, this card has featured welcome offers worth 100,000 bonus points. You'll have to decide whether you'd rather wait for a bigger point bonus or if you can maximize the free night.
The Hilton Honors American Express Card has no annual fee and you can earn Hilton Honors Gold status through the end of the next calendar year when you spend $20,000 in eligible purchases on your Card in a calendar year.
- No annual fee
- Few valuable ongoing benefits such as statement credits

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 130,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 on purchases in the allotted time.
CNBC Select's take: It's not uncommon for the Hilton Business Card to have a welcome bonus worth 175,000 bonus points. Although this bonus is slightly smaller, it's not hard to receive far more value with a Free Night Reward than you would with 25,000 points. Just keep in mind that the Free Night Reward expires 12 months after it's issued.

Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card
New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn up to 100,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points and a Free Night Award (worth up to 50,000 points) after spending $8,000 in purchases on your new card the first six months of card membership. Offer ends Nov. 4, 2026.
Typical welcome bonus: This card normally features a welcome offer of 125,000 points after spending $8,000 within six months, and we also occasionally see offers for three to five Free Night Awards (worth up to 50,000 points each).
CNBC Select's take: The Marriott Bonvoy Business Card's offer is a bit more difficult to compare to past welcome bonuses. We've seen a mixture of intro offers with point bonuses, free nights and statement credits. Personally, I value this deal just below the five Free Night Awards bonus this card has had in the past. But it is easily worth more than the standard 125,000-point bonus and more flexible than an offer for only three Free Night Awards.
The Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card gives business owners the opportunity to earn up to two free night awards every year and bonus points on common business expenses.

- Complimentary Marriott Bonvoy® Gold Elite Status

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 95,000 or 100,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 in purchases within the first six months of card membership.
CNBC Select's take: The all-time high offer for this card featured a 200,000-point welcome bonus. We have no idea if or when we'll see that offer again. If you want to hold off on applying, it comes down to whether you value a $250 credit more than 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.

Marriott Bonvoy Bevy® American Express® Card
New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn 125,000 bonus points and a $150 statement credit after spending $5,000 in purchases within the first six months of card membership. This offer ends Sept. 30, 2026.
Typical welcome bonus: Earn 85,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 in purchases in the first six months of card membership.
CNBC Select's take: The Bonvoy Bevy has previously featured a welcome offer of 175,000 bonus points, but without the $150 statement credit. If you need Marriott Bonvoy points, this is a solid offer. In most situations, 50,000 Bonvoy points will be worth more than $150. There is no guarantee we'll see another all-time-high offer for this card anytime soon, but in the past the Marriott cards have frequently featured elevated limited-time offers.

How to choose a limited-time welcome bonus
Earning a credit card welcome bonus is the easiest way to boost your rewards balance, and many of the top offers can earn you 100,000 points or more. But some issuers limit you to earning a welcome offer once per credit card per lifetime, which makes waiting for increased intro bonuses a valuable move to maximize your return.
Minimum spending requirement
Most credit cards don't award you a welcome bonus upon approval; instead, you have to spend a certain amount within a limited timeframe (usually three months or more). Be sure you can meet the minimum spending requirement within the allotted time and pay off the balance. If you can't, you risk losing out on your bonus or accumulating expensive credit card debt.
Value compared to the standard offer
Don't just consider the bonus's value; look at the value compared to its standard offer. For example, if the card historically offers a 75,000-point bonus but is currently featuring a lower, limited-time offer, you may want to hold off on applying.
This is especially important for cards with welcome bonus limitations. If you really want to earn Hilton points, for example, you'll want to apply for a Hilton credit card when the intro bonus is at or near an all-time high is ideal. This is because you're typically limited to earning an American Express welcome offer once per lifetime.
Type of rewards
Comparing limited-time welcome bonuses can be difficult. Outside of cash back, no two rewards have the exact same value or usefulness. It's important to think about what you can do with a bonus and consider how it aligns with what you want to do.
This is a bit more straightforward with co-branded cards since you know you'll use Marriott Bonvoy points at a Marriott location. But with flexible travel rewards programs, you'll need to look at the transfer partners and other redemption options to get a feel for what you can do with that offer.
FAQs
Does the annual fee count toward the minimum spending requirement?
Fees and interest charges typically do not count toward meeting your credit card's minimum spending requirement. This includes the annual fee.
When does the clock start on meeting the minimum spending requirement?
The timeframe for meeting a credit card's minimum spending requirement and earning its welcome bonus starts when you are approved for the card. That means if your card doesn't offer instant access, you'll have less time than you think to meet the spending requirement, as it can take a week or two to receive your card in the mail.
When will the bonus rewards show up in my account?
Welcome bonus rewards typically post to your account after the close of the billing cycle where you met the minimum spending. If you meet your spending requirement on the fifth day of the month and your statement closes on the 25th day of the month, you most likely won't receive your rewards until after the 25th.
