John Rainey joined PayPal in 2015 as chief financial officer overseeing PayPal's financial stability and growth. As part of the management team, Rainey leads the company's financial operations, regional finance teams and investor relations. He brings to PayPal more than 20 years of financial management experience.

Prior to PayPal, Rainey led the most profitable era in the company's history, as executive vice president and CFO at United Airlines. In this role, Rainey acted as a customer advocate and was responsible for the company's overall financial strategy and corporate strategy function, overseeing corporate finance, treasury, financial planning and analysis, tax, accounting, investor relations, strategic planning and risk management. He began his professional career at Ernst & Young in Houston.

Rainey is an inaugural member of the CNBC Global CFO Council. He is also a leader on the March of Dimes national board of trustees and was named the 2015 national chair of the March for Babies—the nation's biggest fundraiser for mom and baby health.

John earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from Baylor University. He is a certified public accountant.
