Make your blogs work harder

Tell your story with audio, video and images

The power of audio and visual storytelling on the social web is astounding. And yet, surprisingly few small businesses are investing as much time in them as they should. That's undoubtedly because they have so little time to spare.

Stan Smith, founder and managing director of http://pushingsocial.com/ (Pushing Social), a content marketing consultancy, demonstrates three super-quick ways to use one blog to create three additional pieces of audio and image-based content that capture the eyes and ears of customers.

1. Audio: Put on your headset, fire up Audacity and record yourself narrating a post. Add an introduction and background music and you have a podcast. (If you are using Wordpress you can use the PowerPress plugin to publish your audio to iTunes as a podcast.)

2. Presentation: Identify 5-10 key points from your blogpost. Create a slide for each point. Add your logo and blog address. You now have a presentation deck for SlideShare.

3. Video: Take the presentation deck discussed in#2 and use Camtasia Studio (PC) or ScreenFlow (MAC) to record your voice narrating the presentation. Upload your finished recording to YouTube.
